Signature Porsche design DNA and characteristic Porsche performance

A journey across Kuala Lumpur with the new all-electric Macan

Sepang. Porsche Malaysia, represented by Sime Darby Auto Performance, recently hosted a multi-faceted drive experience with the new, all-electric Macan to showcase the car’s remarkable abilities.

The curated experience saw participants weave their way through vibrant Kuala Lumpur city streets to the Driving Experience Centre at Sepang International Circuit, where the sportscar-like performance of the new, all-electric Macan was put to the test.

From open highways to dynamic test environments, this driving experience showcased how the Macan seamlessly adapts to various conditions with ease, making it the ideal companion for both daily commutes and thrilling getaways.

In Malaysia, the Macan range is further enhanced with additional standard options including features such as Power Steering Plus, an electrically-opening charging cover, Surround View incl. Active Parking Support, four-zone climate control, a 230V power outlet in the luggage compartment and a premium BOSE® Surround Sound System.

Dynamic from every angle
Participants were flagged off early in the morning from Kuala Lumpur, with the convoy of Macan SUVs taking a route through highways around the city. Dynamic from every angle, the Macan’s coupé-like flyline, flat front bonnet line paired with elevated front wings, signature four-point daytime running lights, split headlight design and refined proportions created a striking presence on the road.
Inside, the cabin exuded a modern and driver-focused atmosphere. Drivers and Occupants are greeted by a welcoming ambient light environment, linked to the car communication messages such as warning notes or driving assistance features.

Communication lighting comes standard on the new, all-electric Macan – a highlight amid a suite of additional new standard features including the new Porsche Driver Experience and a wireless smartphone charging tray.

Further elements of the new Porsche Driver Experience cockpit include a standard 12.6-inch curved instrument display, a standard 10.9-inch central touchscreen, and an optional 10.9-inch passenger display, and a head-up display with augmented reality technology.

Discovering the beauty within the city
The drive experience saw the convoy take a route through a network of urban expressways around the heart of Kuala Lumpur, before reaching The Estate at Federal Hill, overlooking a stunning view of the Kuala Lumpur cityscape.

The route highlighted the Macan’s versatility, making even the busiest streets an effortless experience. The Macan’s ease of navigation showcased its practicality as a city-friendly electric vehicle, proving that it is just as at home in an urban setting as it is on winding Malaysian roads.

Precision and power at Sepang’s Driving Experience Centre
The convoy then continued towards Sepang, arriving at the Driving Experience Centre at the Sepang International Circuit for a half day of driving exercises.

Here, the Macan put its performance and agility to the test: From precision handling to stability control, Porsche’s first all-electric SUV demonstrated just how effortlessly it could adapt to different driving scenarios—proving that its blend of performance and practicality extended beyond city streets to more demanding conditions.

The first dynamic exercise was the kick-plate, which simulated a loss of rear-wheel traction using a hydraulic plate. This created a controlled skid scenario, allowing the Macan to showcase its electronic Porsche Traction Management (ePTM) system.

With a reaction time of less than 10 milliseconds, ePTM reacts almost instantaneously to situations such as loss of control, delivering the necessary power to the right wheel and axle, stabilising the vehicle effortlessly. The Macan’s low centre of gravity – inherent due to its strategically placed battery – also ensured exceptional stability and precise responsiveness.

Next, participants took on a slalom course, weaving swiftly through a series of cones. The Macan’s direct and responsive steering, which is 15% sharper than the previous model, allowed participants to experience the SUV’s signature Porsche dynamism, each turn made with composed agility, showcasing the Macan’s sublime balance between power and control.

Here, the Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus (PTV) system further enhanced the Macan’s performance, dynamically adjusting to driving conditions to deliver greater traction, driving stability, and lateral dynamics. Designed specifically for the Macan, the optionally available adaptive air suspension further elevates driving dynamics with a levelling system and height adjustment, including specific Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) tuning.

More range, less time charging
Even after an eventful day of spirited driving and performance testing, the Macan retained ample charge to complete the return journey to Kuala Lumpur – with a range of up to 648km*, it highlighted the efficiency of its advanced battery technology.

With an energy recuperation system capable of recovering up to 200 kW and ultra-fast charging capabilities, charging with the Macan is a breeze. The Macan can charge from 10% to 80% in just 21 minutes, ensuring drivers spend less time waiting and more time on the road.

Porsche Malaysia offers an extensive maintenance and warranty package for the first two years. The warranty on the HV battery of the Macan lasts for 8 years (or 160,000 km, whichever comes first); owners may also opt to purchase extended warranties from Porsche Malaysia for up to 15 years for their cars.

The new Porsche Macan variants are now available to order with a starting price of RM 435,00.00. Find out more about the new Porsche Macan at https://bit.ly/porsche-macan-electric.
