TAIPEI, November 14, 2024 – The 2024 Kia EV Day, the Asia-Pacific region’s most anticipated annual brand event, officially launched today at the Taipei Performing Arts Centre. As the first-ever Kia EV Day to be held outside South Korea, this event marks a significant milestone for the brand, unveiling Kia's strategic vision and roadmap for the future of electric vehicles (EVs). Attendees witnessed the Asia-Pacific regional premiere of Kia’s latest EV lineup, including the Kia EV3, the Kia EV5, and the concept models, the Kia Concept EV4 and Kia Concept PV5.

Ki Seok Ahn, President and CEO of Kia Asia-Pacific, stated: “Taiwan is one of the largest EV markets in the Asia-Pacific region, and this year also marks the 10th anniversary of Sime Darby Kia Taiwan. In recent years, Kia Taiwan has achieved remarkable sales growth, with a compound annual growth rate of 43%. As the closest of friends, not just business partners, we want to celebrate this incredible decade together. Hosting Kia’s first Asia-Pacific Kia EV Day in Taipei is our way of expressing our deepest gratitude and support.”

Kia Global Headquarters, guided by the brand philosophy “Movement that Inspires”, is committed to becoming a leader in sustainable mobility solutions. Following the success of the inaugural Kia EV Day held in South Korea in 2023, which outlined Kia’s vision for the future of EVs, this year’s event, with full support from the Kia APAC Headquarters, brings this global celebration to Taiwan.

The decision to select Taiwan as the first overseas venue for Kia EV Day is no coincidence. In 2024, Sime Darby Kia Taiwan celebrates a decade of market presence, underpinned by a steadfast commitment to Taiwan’s market. Sime Darby Kia Taiwan has consistently delivered impressive results, including cumulative sales of over 2,000 units of the Kia EV6 and the Kia EV9 since their launch. As of October 2024, Kia has retained its position as the leading non-premium imported EV brand in Taiwan for the year. Furthermore, Taiwan was recognised by Kia Headquarters for “Excellence in EV Leadership” in 2023, making it the ideal location for this milestone event.
