Sime Darby Motors Australia, a leading automotive group committed to giving back to the community through its ongoing Community, Social Responsibility strategy, embarked on a journey of generosity with their MINI Cooper donation to help raise much needed funds for Sydney Children’s Hospitals Foundation at their annual Gold Dinner fundraising gala event last night, 1 May.
Regarded as the most exclusive charity gala in Australia, Gold Dinner has garnered the support of Sydney’s most influential business and community leaders, social elite, and fashion set, raising over $90 million over the last 27 years for Sydney Children's Hospitals Foundation (SCHF). Most notably, smashing their history raising $19.2 million record last year by raising a staggering $33.4 million dollars at last night’s event.
The funds raised will support a new emergency department and a children’s playground at Sydney Children’s Hospital, Randwick, a new children’s cancer centre at The Children’s Hospital at Westmead, as well as services across intensive care, the burns unit, neurology, and dedicated family spaces.
“We’re delighted to be supporting such a worthy cause” said Matthew Wiesner, Managing Director of Sime Darby Motors Australia. “The Sydney Children’s Hospitals Foundation plays a crucial role in providing essential medical care and support to kids facing health challenges within our community. Our donation of a brand-new MINI Cooper to the Gold Dinner was a small gesture to show our support for the incredible work they do.”
The brand-new MINI Cooper that Sime Darby Motors Australia donated is valued at $47,216 and attracted guests who support the hospital’s mission on the night of the gala event.
“We are immensely grateful to our friends at Sime Darby Motors Australia for their generous donation of a fabulous MINI Cooper,” said Monika Tu, Sime Darby Motors Australia Ambassador and Gold Dinner Committee Member. “This contribution will make a significant difference in our efforts to raise much needed funds to provide the best possible care for young patients and their families. Thank you, Sime Darby!”
