Strengthening Workplace Safety at
Sime Darby Motors Malaysia

Sime Darby Motors Malaysia has taken proactive measures to enhance workplace safety by training 28 employees as Occupational Safety and Health Coordinators (OSH-Cs).

These newly appointed OSH-Cs will be instrumental in identifying potential hazards, implementing preventive measures, and cultivating a robust safety culture across its operational business units. By investing in employees’ safety knowledge, Motors Malaysia demonstrates its commitment to creating a workplace where everyone feels valued and protected.

In collaboration effort with Retail & Distribution (ReDA), the training took place at Sime Darby Motors City in Ara Damansara. Participants were from various business units including Sime Darby Auto Hyundai, Jaguar Land Rover Malaysia, Sime Darby Auto Connexion, Sime Darby Auto Bavaria, Sime Darby Auto Selection, Sime Darby Auto Performance, Sime Darby Auto Engineering, Sime Darby Auto Import and Sime Darby Rent-A-Car.

Led by En. Mohd Arif Hamzah, a seasoned safety professional and member of both the American Society of Safety Professionals (ASSP) and the Malaysian Society for Occupational Safety and Health (MSOSH). The training equipped participants with the knowledge and skills necessary to fulfill their new OSH-C responsibilities.

Aligned with the Occupational Safety and Health (Amendment) Act 2022*, Motors Malaysia’s proactive approach in training OSH-Cs demonstrates a strong commitment to employee safety and wellbeing. By empowering employees to take ownership of safety, Motors Malaysia aims to create a workplace where productivity and efficiency thrive alongside a secure environment.

To ensure full compliance with the new regulations, another OSH-C training session is planned for mid-September. Motors Malaysia believes that every employee plays a crucial role in creating a safe workplace and is confident that the addition of OSH-Cs will strengthen Sime Darby’s ‘No Harm’ vision, where everyone can return home safely each day.
