Assembly

Inokom Corporation Sdn. Bhd

Sime Motors’ first assembly plant was the Associated Motors Industries (AMI) plant in Selangor, Malaysia that assembled BMW and Land Rover vehicles in 1982.

In 2004, Sime Motors acquired Inokom assembly plant in Kedah, Malaysia which assembles various Hyundai passenger and commercial vehicles. In 2008, the assembly operations for BMW and Land Rover were then relocated to Inokom. However, the assembly of Land Rover was ceased in 2016. Later in 2011, MINI and Mazda brands were incorporated. Ten years later, Inokom was appointed to assemble Kia vehicles which successfully launched for mass production in 2023.

In 2022, Sime Motors’ vehicle production and assembly facility in Inokom became the first assembly facility for Porsche outside of Europe that assembles Porsche Cayenne model for the domestic market. The assembly then was expanded in 2024 to support the increased production and exports to Thailand.

While in 2023, Inokom entered a partnership with Chery for the local assembly of Chery models in Malaysia and currently assembles the Chery Omoda 5 and Tiggo SUVs.
